Birthday Tri-Shutter Card

My bff is having a birthday so I wanted to make her a very special card. I also wanted to try this new card technique called tri-shutter. You can see a great tutorial at scs on how to make them. I used Melon Mambo textured cardstock for the base and the razzelberry lemonade designer paper for the panels, and mounted the stamped images onto pumpkin pie. (These are from the NEW Stampin' Up! Idea Book coming out next week!!!!

I also want to share the cake from my other bff's retirement dinner. Isn't it pretty? And it tasted yummy too. It's from Rao's Bakery, for those of you that live in the Houston area along 1960.

Circle Circus

Photobucket
Here are two cards I made using the new set Circle Circus that will make it's debut in the NEW SU catalog on July 1st. When I saw this set, I thought I would really like it and come up with lots of ways to use it. Well let me tell you it hasn't been as easy as I thought. And I haven't seen many cards posted on SCS that have used it or that I particularly liked. But I am determined to conquer this set and find a good use for it. On these cards, I first stamped the circle with versamark and clear embossed. Then brayered over them with the new in-colors, curry on one and mambo on the other. Next I wiped off the excess ink so that the embossed circles were whiter looking. Last I stamped a different circle with black ink. The designer paper is from the razzleberry lemonade pack. I am really excited about the dotted ribbon!!! If you like it please leave comments and let me know if I should make any for convention to swap. Is it "swap worthy"? lol

Brayered Autumn Days

brayered autumn days
I love my brayer but forget to pull it out and use it sometimes. I have wanted to try some of the brayer techniques shown on this blog. She is amazing with her brayer! Check it out. I actually followed the steps posted over on SCS for this card using the new SU set Autumn Days that I got to preorder as a demonstrator. It brayered with Summer Sun, More Mustard, Dusty Durango (one of the new In-Colors), and Old Olive. I used glossy cardstock and mounted it on basic black and dusty durango cardstock. You can't tell in this photo, but the pheasant was stamped first in veramark and then into Rich Razzelberry and clear embossed.

Sympathy card swap

I am really going to miss Baja Breeze and the Parisian Breeze paper. Fortunately I have a full pack of each that I can still play with. Here is my swap card for the SASSSC meeting on Saturday. I used the set Friends 24-7.

My AC quit last night during my scrapbooking class. It had worked fine all day. Then about 5:00 I noticed I was getting hot and looked at the thermostat and it registered 77. I knew it should read 74. By the time we went to bed it was 82. Right now it is 84. The AC man is coming this afternoon. I hope we just need freon and he can get the AC going quickly and cheap. It is already 90 degrees outside here is Houston and I'm sure it will be up in the high 90's by mid day.

Scrapbooking with A Walk in the Park designer paper

I can't believe it's been two weeks since I posted but I have been busy. I have been cutting paper for a card class which I had last Friday, then I had these layouts to make for the scrapbooking class tonight. I took a break over the weekend to visit my oldest son in Dallas and had a very relaxing time. These layouts are made using A Walk in the Park designer paper, SU in color textured cardstock, and Summer Love rub-ons. I can't wait to get photos from my family vacation to go on them.

School's Out for Summer!!!!

That's right ladies, I have 2 months of kid free days just begging for my attention in the stamping and scrapping room. Of course I need to get it cleaned and organized too! But first I have stamp club tonight and in the morning. They are making the vitalized velum butterfly card, the daisy big shot card, and the watercolor rose circle card. Most of my members are advanced stampers so I think they can handle this all in one sitting.

My DIL sent me some current pictures of the grandkids, so I was able to get them onto the scrapbook pages I made last month for scrap club.

I Won!

Guess what? I just heard that Lil Inker picked this card to be the winner of her Creatively Cute Bloggers Challenge to make a card with only one layer. I'm excited to hear that because I want to use something like it for my one layer swap at convention in August. So it has passed the first round is going to the "finals". Sorry about the metaphor but I'm watching "So You Think You Can Dance" right now and that's how I feel about my card.
Today was my Kindergarten class's graduation. Everything went well and tomorrow is the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL! Who Hoo!
But right now I have to finish getting ready for my stamp club, but hope to have time to make something new to post afterwards.
