Shimmer Paint

This coming Saturday, October 3rd, is World Cardmaking Day. To celebrate this day, my Stampin' Up! sisters (sideline and downlines) are hosting a Customer Appreciation Day. We do this every year after we return from Convention to share all the new products, swaps, techniques, and demos we saw. It is also a chance for us to sale all our retired stamp sets, paper, and other products. We usually have over 100 people. This year we are asking our customers and guests to bring cards for the troops. These cards are for the troops to use to send messages and greeting home to their loved ones. We will include the envelopes. The military provides the postage home. The main restriction on the cards is that they contain NO glitter for obvious reasons (it will make them a target if it gets on their clothes!).

I am doing one of the on-going demonstrations. I will demonstrate the ways to use the Shimmer Paint. Andrea Walford (see her link at the right) did a wonderful 5 post on ways to use the shimmer paint. Thanks to her, I was able to get my demonstration together pretty easy. I will be posting some of the cards and uses. Some are completely CASEd or borrowed from Andrea and others.

The first and easiest way to use the shimmer paint is applying it Directly to the Stamp with one of SU's sponge daubers. Remember to clean your stamp right away. The longer the paint remains on the stamp, the harder it is to clean if off.

Sunny Day Simply Scrappin' Kit

I am sooo glad I took photos yesterday of the layouts and cards I have made recently because BOTH of my digital cameras are on the blink and have to be either repaired or replaced. I recently held my scrap club and we made 6 pages using the Sunny Day kit. Hope you like them.

Felted Cardstock

I can't believe its been almost a month since my last post. It's because I am a teacher, a kindergarten teacher, and school started last month!! I am also a grandmother, and precious Jaxon lives close enough for his parents to drop him off without must notice so they can go to the movies (and I can't say no, nor do I want to). Plus I've had stamp clubs to prepare for and scrapbooking class to make layouts for, and SU Open House and World Card Making Day to get ready for, plus the new Grey's Anatomy and Dancing With the Stars has started their new seasons............so you see why it's been so long?!
But I have some things to show you now! Two weeks ago I realized it was my turn to do the demonstration for the SASSSC group....ooops, I thought I was supposed to bring the food. So now I had to find something to demo that they hadn't seen. Well since it was Wednesday, I had received my SCS weekly inking newsletter. When I opened it and saw the tutorial for that week I was so happy!!! Here was the prefect technique to demo. I even had pretty napkins on hand!
Be sure to check out the tutorial for Felted Cardstock on their site.

The beautiful backgrounds on both these cards is actually a pretty napkin that has been "felted" to the cardstock using cling wrap and an iron! I really had fun making them. Now when I see pretty napkins, I will be looking to see if the print is something I can use on a card!
